Speech Therapist
Speech therapy work at the school involves children with speech, language and communication difficulties at preschool and primary-school age. It is carried out through individual and group treatment and aims to develop speech skills that enable functional and unhindered verbal communication. Given the importance of vision for speech development, blind and partially sighted children are at risk of developing speech and language irregularities, which calls for preventive work at an early age.
Speech therapy work includes:
- determining the student's speech and language status
- preventing the occurrence of speech and language disorders
- developing speech and language abilities
- correcting speech disorders that hinder successful spoken communication
- correcting difficulties in reading and writing in Braille and in print
- improving the quality of students' verbal expression
- cooperation with teachers, preschool educators and expert associates
- cooperation with the child's family.
