Sensory-Motor Integration
Sensory experience is gradually organised thanks to the child coming into contact with many things around it. Over time, it acquires the ability to adapt its body to various challenges.
After initial testing and observation, activities are created for each child and carried out in the sensory-motor room, in the school yard with its garden and equipment for developing motor skills, and in the physical-education hall.
The therapy is carried out with blind and partially sighted children of the earliest age (from 0 to 5 years), of preschool and primary-school age, 2 to 3 times a week for up to 30 minutes, and is intended for:
- children with sensory impairments, to provide adequate stimulation and motivation for movement
- children with an over- or under-reactive vestibular system
- children lacking tactile and auditory inhibitory mechanisms, or with under-reactive tactile and auditory senses
- children with learning and behavioural disorders
- children with dyspraxia
- children with autism.
